Blackjack is a casino card game that is played with between one and eight decks of 52 cards. The object of the game is to beat the dealer with a score of 21 or as close to 21 as possible without going over—or busting. Bets must be played before the cards are dealt and players may choose to take more cards from the shoe in an effort to create a better hand. In most cases, players only play against the dealer and never any other players.

In an effort to create a hand of 21, blackjack hands are scored as follows: Aces are worth one or 11 points, face cards and 10s are worth 10 points and cards two through nine are worth the value shown on their faces. Blackjack is played at a table that seats six or more people and has varying minimum and maximum bet limits. After players have created hands that are acceptable, the dealer reviews the hands and pays the winners out accordingly.
